Win $25K in the 2019 3M Young Scientist Challenge

Attention all Division B Coaches and students-

For the tenth year, Science Olympiad’s partner, Discovery Education, would like to invite all Science Olympiad Division B team members to enter a video in the $25,000 3M Young Scientist Challenge (YSC). The contest deadline is May 7, 2019.

Four of the last five Grand Prize winners have been Science Olympiad team members - 2018: Rishab Jain from Portland, Oregon; 2016: Maanasa Mendu from Mason, Ohio; 2015: Hannah Herbst from Boca Raton, Florida; and 2013: Peyton Robertson from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Each year since 2013, at least four of the top ten came from Science Olympiad schools!

The grand prize is $25,000, with all Top 10 winners receiving $1,000, a trip to 3M HQ, the chance to work with a 3M scientist mentor, and other cool benefits like a special prize pack for any Science Olympiad finalist! This year's suggested 'Thought Starters' for video submissions center around Improving Lives for the Future via Health, Safety, Connectivity, Environment, Energy and Community- topics aligned to all 23 of the current Division B Science Olympiad events.

For more information, visit https://www.soinc.org/discovery-education to view application materials: a letter describing the contest, a contest overview, and a nominating certificate to give to students.

This is a great opportunity for Science Olympiad students to expand their STEM skills- don't miss out, and apply by May 7!
